Mack's Blacktop Basketball: Come Out and Play!

Mack's Blacktop Basketball

Trailside Middle School

6 Sessions: Saturday, June 29 - August 3, 2019

In addition to the FSBL Summer League, the FSBL is back on the courts this summer with Mack's Blacktop Basketball at Trailside Middle School.  This free, instructional program will run for 6 Saturdays starting on June 29th and ending on August 3rd.  (**The session on July 27th will be held at Farmwell Station MS)  Though a majority of the teaching is done inside, we do get the players outside for some outdoor play each session.  Wouldn't you rather have your young athlete out on the courts playing basketball instead of in front of the X-Box?  Come on out and play!  Looking for a few additional FSBL coaches to join Coach Chang and Coach Drake (pictured above teaching the players)  on the courts to help run Mack's Blacktop Basketball this summer!  For those who don't know, Mack Butts was a Coach and Board Member with the FSBL for only a short time, but he was truly dedicated to helping the young basketball players in Ashburn be better players.  Mack passed away from cancer in March, 2015 and the FSBL has chosen to carry on this free summer program that Mack helped run for 2 summers!

Open to all players entering 3rd - 9th grades this fall.

Boys Session runs from 8:00 - 10:00am

Girls Session runs from 10:00am - 12:00pm

There is NO REGISTRATION for this FREE program.

Players play at their own risk!  Just show up ready to work on basketball skills.  All players should bring a basketball - with their name on it - each week.  Parents need to make sure that they return to the gym to pick up your child just prior to the end of each session.  Please contact Commissioner Craig Newman (commish@fsbl.org) or Joe Chang (summerleague@fsbl.org) for additional information.  See you on the courts!

Your child's success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are.

But having an athlete who is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and tries their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting.

Sportsmanship
Something to think about while watching your son or daughter play in FSBL games this season:

1.  These are kids.

2.  Basketball is a
      game.

3.  Parents should
      cheer for
      everyone!

4.  The referees are
      human and some
      times make
      mistakes.

5.  Your child is not a
      professional
      athlete playing
      for a million
      dollars ..... yet!

If you disagree with these statements, please contact FSBL Commissioner, Craig Newman:
commish@fsbl.orgHe'd be happy to explain them to you!

FSBL Rule 7.c

Parents are required to notify the FSBL Board Of Directors, within forty-eight (48) hours, when their child is suspended or expelled from school. If the BOD is not notified within forty-eight (48) hours of any such suspension/expulsion then upon discovery the child will be expelled from FSBL immediately for the remainder of the current season and the entire next season.

Wear RecSpecs!
If your son or daughter wears regular eye glasses to see like those pictured below, they are not permitted to be worn in practices or games in the FSBL. Before the season begins, please have your player fitted for a pair of RecSpecs or another brand of prescription sport goggles.
